The second edition of the Garden Trials and Trade took place from 11 to 13 June. During this trade fair Clematis ‘ST17333’ (Multi Pink), submitted by Van der Starre from Boskoop, was named Best Novelty Garden Trials and Trade 2019.
This Clematis has a unique combination of flower shape and flower color in the popular genus Clematis. The plant is a mutant originated from Clematis ‘Hagley Hybrid’ and is therefore just as strong, healthy and vigorous. “It’s an excellent and innovative introduction,” according to the KVBC jury.
Hydrangea macrophylla ‘Hocomagicevo’ (Magical Evolution) submitted by Kolster bv from Boskoop was also awarded a gold medal. This special rich flowering cultivar originated as a mutant in ‘Hokomarevo’ (Magical Evolution), but has larger, deeper pink flowers. The plants are uniform with beautiful and healthy dark green leaves.
In addition to the two gold medals, the jury awarded three silver and four bronze medals.
There were 26 plants registered for the novelty trials, of which 19 were ultimately trialled. The judging of the novelties is done by the trial committee of the KVBC.
